sass and sensibility

"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit. "No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."

countries and kidneys

Student handing in completed physics test: "I'm finished. Like the stuff you put on wood."

Ms Brett: Name 10 countries in South America.
Eternal 8th Grader: Pride Rock!

Pregnant Development Staff Woman: putting on makeup in the bathroom
10th grade girl (walks into bathroom): "What are you trying to look nice for? You already have a husband AND you're pregnant!"

I walked in on a counseling presentation today that was taking place in my classroom. A woman was giving a presentation to the 10th grade girls about being an organ donor. (I think I've mentioned before about the tiny, spunky, adorable 8th grade girl we have who is waiting on a kidney transplant?) The woman was explaining that organs can be taken from people who have died, or sometimes they can take them from living donors. Upon realizing that it was possible to donate a kidney and still live, one of the girls immediately volunteered to donate hers to the 8th grader! Obviously she doesn't realize all that's involved, but I just thought it was sweet of her to volunteer to give to someone else so readily...
