sass and sensibility

"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit. "No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."

Where in the world is...

Ms. Brett: If you could live anywhere in the country, where would it be?
Cursed Boy: Spain.

Another from the lovely Ms. Brett...she had written "Sierra Leone" on the board during a discussion with the seniors about conflict diamonds. It was at this point that the Academic Team Leader/math teacher walked in, looked at the board, and asked:
"Who's Sierra Leone?"

This was my favorite response on a midyear exam question (the question asked them to explain to their Grandmother why it was important to wear seat belts...referencing Newton's Laws of course...) Here's part of one, verbatim:
"For example if your on the highway moving at 65 m/h and crash into the car in front of you; you alone with everything inside of you would be fling forward at 65 m/h. With you body moving at this speed you would go through the window. And God knows your body is not ready for you to go through a window. The headrest is when you wear your seatbelt it stops your head from fling giving yourself whip blast or just breaking your own neck."
