What's for dinner? fishkabobs.
It's with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of some treasured members of our household. Though they were only with us for a few days, they made our mantelpiece look cool, and thus, they will be missed. Control, Alt(on) and Delete were pronouced dead this morning at approximately 7:15am. They seemed so happy and frisky yesterday...I suspect foul play. Especially since they all apparently died together...though they lived in separate Mason jars. That is suspicious.
I totally scored a 10 gallon aquarium on the way to school yesterday. It was a happy day :) Bulk pick up week for trash + me = treasure hunting! hah! It had way more gravel than necessary though, so it was sort of heavy to carry...so I ditched it in our front yard and went to school. Then I took it in the car this morning and cleaned it at school. It is amazing (even though the gravel smelled like fish) and it does not leak. It is going to be perfect for density demonstrations :)
In other news, I continue to strike a sense of awe and wonder in the hearts of my students...today it was with my recitation/singing of the books of the Old Testament, followed by the 50 states. Then I showed them the flash animation for the Element Song (I can't sing that one...yet). My performance prompted deep questions like "Where did you go to school??!?!?"
Some skills, my friends, are not learned in school...

i agree, you are the awesomest science teacher EVER. i throw the challenge out to you and your class- learn that song and I'll have to come visit to hear you. Of course if I come and visit, I'll have to bring something good to eat in celebration! Does that sound too much like a bribe?
That elements song is amazing! I wish I wrote it. Maybe I did, but it was STOLEN from me! And now someone else gets all the credit. :)
