sass and sensibility

"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit. "No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."

Stories from Ms. Brett :)

Ms. Brett has had some great stories lately which I feel obligated to share with you ;)

Light of My Life came into history class late last week, saying that he'd been kept late by the previous teacher and could he please go to the bathroom? Please? Please? She said no, but then we she turned around he was gone. A minute passed and one student piped up, "Ms. Brett, I bet he's doing his homework in the bathroom," which prompted Ms. Brett to call across the hall to Mr. Cody, asking him to go check the bathroom. As Cody walked into the bathroom, he practically ran into LomL, who was just coming out of the stall, holding his homework...
Cody: "LomL! What were you doing in here?!"
LomL: "I was playing with myself! I swear!"

and some recent questions in class...

student: What's the boys called that worked with the cows?
Ms. B: Cowboys

student: What's the name of that thing that came before that other thing?
ms B: I'm good, but I'm not that good

student: What's the name of the countries that aren't in the US?

Buffet and the Beatles...

A conversation that I just overheard between the 10th graders and their biology teacher...

Student: What kind of music do you like?
Teacher: I listen to Jimmy Buffet...
S: Who's Jimmy Buffet?
T: Really??! You don't who Jimmy Buffet is?? [Sings clips from various songs; students still look confused.]
S: -Nope.
-We're young!
-I was born in 1993!
T: Jimmy Buffet's been around since the 60's; he's like an American icon--I can't believe you've never heard of him!
S: No, he's not an American icon--the Beatles were an American icon!
T: The Beatles were British!!
